說明/ 雄蛙體長約3.9–5 公分，雌蛙5.5–6.1 公分。頭長大於頭寬，吻端鈍短，上唇白色，嘴角後的兩團白色頷腺顯著。背部紅棕色或棕灰色，有些個體背上有黑色或灰色斑紋分布。背部側褶明顯，皮膚粗糙。與相似蛙種貢德氏赤蛙比較，後者體型較大，背側褶較細，雄蛙有咽側雙外鳴囊，鼓膜有白色環紋。常出沒於溝渠、溪流及長時間積水的水窪中。鳴叫聲聽起來像是稍微拉長的「給ㄟ – 給ㄟ – 給ㄟ –」聲。（彭楨儒攝）
Males 3.9-5 cm in length; females 5.5-6.1 cm. The head length is longer than the width. The snout is short and flattened; the upper lip is white; the two white maxillary glands behind the corner of its mouth are visible. Its back is reddish-brown or brownish-grey. Some individuals have black or grey stripes on their backs. The dorso-lateral folds are visible; the skin is rough. Günther's Frog, an allied species, is larger in size and has thinner dorso-lateral folds. The male Günther's Frogs have two external vocal sacs and white ring markings around the temporal fold.
