說明/ 常綠灌木或落葉灌木，高可達2公尺。杜鵑花的根系分布很淺，喜歡偏酸性的土壤，能與土中的真菌共生，這些共生的真菌可以分解有機質供杜鵑花使用。杜鵑花品系繁多，花色鮮豔，花形變化豐富，是十分受歡迎的花卉物種，花期為3到5月。開紫紅色、玫瑰色至淡紅色花，花瓣內面上方具濃色的斑點。在臺灣從平地到高山都可以發現杜鵑花的蹤跡，校內從寧靜湖上下游與清園都可觀賞到。（陸維元攝）

An evergreen or deciduous shrub that can grow to 2 m tall. The plant has a shallow root system and prefers acid soil. It forms a symbiotic relationship with the fungi in the soil, which break down organic matter for the plant. There are many azalea varieties with differing colors and flower shapes, making it a popular garden plant. The flowers bloom from March to May and come in colors such as purplish-red, rose, and light red. The upper petal has a darker-colored blotch. The plant can be seen on the plains and in the mountains of Taiwan. On campus, Lovely Azaleas can be found in the upstream and downstream areas of Tranquility Lake and in the Ching Memorial Garden.
