說明/ 落葉性大喬木，高約8–25公尺，樹皮粗糙，灰褐色，葉為二回羽狀複葉。夏季5到7月間開花，花橙紅豔麗猶似蝴蝶飛舞林間，盛開時將樹冠染成鮮紅一片，甚為美觀。果實為莢果，呈扁平豆莢狀，長度約25–50公分，成熟時為褐色，樹幹基部常形成板根。本校共栽有269株，分別植於寧靜湖、通識中心南側、圖書館與鳳凰大道等處。（甘曉晴攝）

A deciduous tree that can grow to about 8-25 m tall with a rough, greyish-brown bark and bipinnate leaves. It flowers from May to July, producing orange-red flowers that fly through the air like butterflies, turning the crown fiery red. The fruits are flat pods, about 25-50 cm long and turn dark-brown when ripe. Buttress roots often form at the base of the trunk. There are 269 Flame Trees on campus, distributed around Tranquility Lake, the south side of the Center for General Education, the Library and the Phoenix Boulevard. (Photo courtesy of Gan Xiao-qing)
