說明/ 雄蟲體長3.5–4.0 公分，雌蟲體型稍大，體色黃綠色至淡褐色，翅膀較短，僅達腹部中間。近似種為臺灣稻蝗，其翅膀延伸超過腹端，是兩者主要區別。體色多變，有綠色型或褐色型。分布於平地到低海拔山區，成蟲常見於夏秋二季。數量很多，棲息於低矮草叢中，食草多樣，基本上以禾本科植物葉片為主食。因為翅膀較短，所以主要靠跳躍方式來躲避天敵。（彭楨儒攝）
Males are about 3.5-4.0 cm in length. The female is larger in size, with yellowish-green to light brown body color and shorter wings that reach only to the middle of its abdomen. The Rice Grasshopper (Oxya chinensis), an allied species, has longer wings that reach beyond the tip of its abdomen, a difference that is used to tell the two species apart. It has various coloration, including green or brown, and is distributed across plains and low altitude mountains. The adult is often seen in summer and fall. It has a large population, inhabiting low bushes and feeding mainly on the leaves of plants in the Poaceae family. Due to its shorter wings, it mainly moves by jumping to avoid predators.
